The Story
Clark studies behavioral ecology and economics of natural resources. He applied his mathematical knowledge to accurately identify and analyze renewable resources like fisheries, and how to manage them so that that some of the resource is used, but enough is left to reproduce for future harvests. He has written several textbooks on the topic, for example, Mathematical Bioeconomics (1990). His work in resource economics was cited by US Vice President Al Gore in his book "Earth in the Balance."
